We are so happy to have the privilege of caring for your children on Sundays! Children are a gift from the Lord and it’s our desire to bless them while they are in our care. Although we don’t consider their time with us to be their primary spiritual education, we are aware that we have the opportunity to shape their attitude towards church and to strengthen the spiritual foundation being laid by parents. We want them to love coming to church and to have a positive experience every time they visit!NurseryAges: Newborn - 2Our Nursery is a safe, fun-filled, and entertaining place for children from birth until two years old to learn about the love of Jesus. Kinder KidsAges: 3-5Kinder Kids is a hands on program for children aged 3 to 5. Bible stories are taught while children spend time at different stations around the Kinder Kids room. We know it can be tough visiting a church for the first time. It can be a little like joining someone else’s family for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone seems to know one another, and they know where to find everything. Meanwhile, you’re trying to look like you fit in and make a connection with at least one person who has something in common with you.At Southgate, we want you to feel like part of the family. We understand that people are uniquely made, & have different passions, hobbies, talents and ideas. That’s a big reason why we have "COMMUNITIES" here at Southgate; purposeful, exciting, and relevant communities of 15-20 people who share a passion and gather to enjoy it together. Have something you're passionate about? So do we. Southgate’s purpose is to bring the "unchanging message" to our "ever-changing culture". We want to show how the Bible is relevant to the challenges of everyday living. Church doesn't have to be boring, that's why the Southgate family is committed to creativity and innovation in our ministries. We believe a healthy church embraces the Great Commandment and the Great Commission that are taught by Jesus Himself. These passages from the Bible remind us to love God first and then our neighbor. At Southgate Community Church, we seek to demonstrate God's love to the people of North Grenville and the surrounding region.Southgate Community Church is recognized as a "purpose driven church" which means that everything we endeavor to do is done to fulfill God's purpose for his church. We are committed to these 5 purposes: 1. "Love God with all your heart" (worship) 2. "love your neighbor as yourself" (service) 3. "go… and make disciples" (evangelism) 4. "… baptizing them" (fellowship) 5. "teaching them to obey…" (discipleship)
LOCAL CHURCH CENTERED: The denomination exists to serve local congregations. Local churches are the most fundamental and strategic points of evangelism and discipleship. The challenge of the denomination is to keep finding the best ways to serve and strengthen congregations.SERVANT LEADERSHIP: Wesleyans respect leadership that is placed over them, while realizing that the authority and effectiveness of spiritual leadership is not primarily bestowed, but earned and manifested by a loving and willing heart of obedience that serves God and mankind gladly. Wesleyans desire to be leaders in serving.UNITY IN DIVERSITY: There is intrinsic value in every person. Unity becomes all the more important and beautiful in the light of the wide ranges of differences in personality, culture, race, talents, and perspectives. Loving each other eliminates devaluation and deprivation of life to one another.
OUR CORE VALUES & BELIEFSWesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all men and women who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. We believe that those who receive new life in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord's Spirit. We believe in the Bible and seek to establish our faith and actions on its teaching. We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and that the purpose of the Church is to tell the world about Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds. The following are terms descriptive of who Wesleyans are and why they do what they do. They describe the "soul of the Church":BIBLICAL AUTHORITY: The Bible is the highest source of written authority for God's plan for His people; it reveals how to live out that plan, individually and corporately. Beliefs, practices, priorities are to be anchored in clear biblical teachings.CHRISTLIKENESS: Jesus Christ is the defining feature of God's will for all humankind. In Christ is found the highest and most practical meaning and clearest example for holy living or godliness. Christ is both example and strength as Wesleyans pursue integrity, excellence, faith, hope, and love.DISCIPLE-MAKING: Making disciples is a clear mandate from Christ. This requires a strong focus on evangelism and training in spiritual growth and holy living. Done effectively, this will produce and promote growth and health in and among the churches.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
