Our 20/20 Vision
Our founding pastor, Rev. Mark Parker, felt impressed that God gave him a vision in 1997-98 for a church called Southgate Community Church. The following is a snapshot of the "preferred future" that we have for our growing congregation under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
- We are trusting God for at least 25 acres of land that will be located on Highway #416 on which will be built a regional, Christ centered and Bible believing church. Our church will serve as a key landmark on the southern corridor leading into Canada’s National capital. We will have a beautiful church campus in a rural setting which will include a worship Center able to seat several hundred people, a dynamic counseling center that has an excellent Christian lay counseling program, a “Welcome Home Center” that houses missionaries returning from the field who have no place to live, an extensive educational facility, and a Community recreational area including soccer pitches, walking trails, and picnic shelters. Our church “campus” will be designed to minister to the whole person.
- We are trusting God for a church family where the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated, and the lonely can find massive doses of love, acceptance, practical help, hope, forgiveness, guidance, and encouragement.
- We are trusting God to help us find favour with the people of this region so that we will find common ground in hopes of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- We are trusting God to see 500 committed members into the fellowship of our church family by the year 2020. Together loving, learning, laughing, and living in harmony with one another in spite of our differences.
- We are trusting God to develop us into a dynamic and authentic spiritually mature church family through the use of Life Development classes, Connection Groups, seminars, retreats, and much more. We dream of our church becoming a recognized educational campus.
- We are trusting God for the equipping of every believer to discover a significant ministry within the church they can use their gifts and talents that God has given them. Our church will be recognized as a place where the people are really the "ministers".
- We are trusting God to call and send out 100 career missionaries and church workers around the world! In conjunction with this vision, we will be committed to financially helping our members go out on short-term mission projects.
- We are trusting God to help us mother 20 new churches in Canada by the year 2020.
